Smoother, clearer skin
Laser skin resurfacing used to be painful, with a recovery period that could last from a few weeks to over a month. So it's no wonder that gentler pixel laser resurfacing has piqued the interest of many.
Non-ablative fractionated skin resurfacing has become the latest and safest option for those who want to treat wrinkles, sun spots, melasma, acne and post-operative scars, large pores, and irregular texture. It involves little or no downtime, and the process is so gentle that even sensitive skin on the neck, chest, hands and face can be treated.
Pixel resurfacing performs “micro” ablation by removing the epidermis in targeted areas. This deep skin penetration stimulates new collagen through the body's natural healing process, allowing for gradual skin tightening, reduction of wrinkles and fine lines, softening of deep frown lines, and improved tone and texture.
How does it work?
Compared to traditional laser resurfacing that targets the entire surface of the skin, pixel resurfacing only targets small areas with each pass. By treating a portion of the skin each time, the skin heals faster and downtime is significantly reduced. The normal tissue surrounding the laser spots allows for more effective healing and production of new collagen.
There is very little discomfort, so topical anesthesia generally isn't required. Toward the end of treatment you may notice some redness or a mild burning sensation, which is quite tolerable and should resolve within 30 to 180 minutes. Immediately afterward your skin feels softer and looks more radiant and even; as the deeper layers continue to heal over the next three to six months, the results continue to unfold.
